On TestKits set to Assist Mode and DevKits in Development or Assist mode, an application saved on the drive of a host computer, internal drive of the DevKit/TestKit or on a M.2 SSD inserted in the DevKit/TestKit (recommended by Sony) can be started up by selecting the ★ workspace0-7 icon. Similarly to ★APP_HOME on the PS4, it is used to directly launch development build games without creating and installing a package.

You can install it on retail machines, but the necessary files are missing {can be installed from USB}

  • Opening it on a retail machine will give error CE-105787-8 (This operation is not supported in release mode.)
  • In retail models it is missing NPXS29998 application files(IV9999-NPXS29998_00-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)

There can be up to 8 workspaces, workspace0-7. Every new workspace will be added to the homescreen.
