PS5 Playstation Update Package download links mostly use the same structure as the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita: an updatelist.xml file is hosted on SIE servers and downloaded to get information about latest System Software version.

  • <TLD> is the 2 letter Region abbreviation (jp, us, ...)
  • <OBFUSCATED_STRING> is the random string

  • <TLD> is the 2 letter Region abbreviation (jp, us, ...)
  • <OBFUSCATED_STRING> is the random string
  • <YYYY_MMDD> is the Build Date
  • <TYPE> is the 3 letter Package Type abbreviation (system, recovery, ...)
  • <SHA256> is the SHA256 Hash of the Package

Versions

Version Format

System Software Version format as displayed in System Settings is long but can be read as: 

YY.SS-MM.mm.nn.nn-UU.UU.UU.U.b

Where:

  • YY are the last two digits of the build year
  • SS are the two digits of the build semester: 01 = first semester, 02 = second semester
  • MM is the major version
  • mm is the minor version
  • nn.nn is the extended minor version
  • UU.UU.UU.U is an unknown version format
  • b takes value 0 or 1. Usually 1 on CEX PS5s.
